Refuse Pickup
Garbage is collected every Monday in the village of Herscher. Should a Monday fall on a major holiday, the next day (Tuesday) is the garbage collection day for that particular week.
Burning Regulations
Trash may be burned within village limits on Fridays from 12:00 NOON to 7:00 p.m. Please burn only paper products and other burnable items which do NOT produce excessive odor and smoke.
Leaves and yard waste may be burned within the village Mondays through Saturdays from 12:00 NOON to 7:00 p.m from October 1 through April 30. (Please note that this type of burning is prohibited beginning on May 1.)
All fires most be attended at all times. Burning is strictly prohibited on Sundays and holidays.
Park Hours
Village of Herscher parks may be used between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. from May 1 through September 30. Winter hours (October 1 through April 30) are 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Special permits may be approved by the Village Board and Police Chief.
Grass Clippings
The Village asks that you please DO NOT mow grass clippings onto any village streets.Grass clippings create problems in storm sewers.
Building Permits
Please be advised that you MUST have a building permit for building projects including the following: Pools, Decks, Fences, Sidewalks, Remodeling, Garden Sheds, Siding, Facia, Soffit, Roofs, etc.
Please do not begin any building project without first consulting with the Village office. The Village reserves the right to hold you responsible for any changes needed to meet codes.
Residents and contractors must give the Building Inspector 48 hours before any construction is to begin.

Village of Herscher Water/Sewer Bills are payable at the following locations:
Herscher Village Hall, 272 East Second Street
State Bank of Herscher, 10 Tobey Drive
Centrue Bank, 654 North Park Road
The quickest method of having your account credited is by paying at the Village Hall. A drop box is situated at the Village Hall entrance for payments made when the Village Clerk’s office is not open.
