History: The Episcopal Methodist Church was established in the village of Herscher in 1882.  Services were held in a local store at the S.W. corner of Main and Myrtle Streets until a church building was brought from Eldridgeville and placed across the street at the N.E. corner of Main and Myrtle.  In 1900,  a new building was erected at the S.E. corner of that same intersection.

As the town grew, the church grew, and the size and condition of the church led to a new structure being required.  After much planning and fundraising, ground was broken in October of 1963 for the present church at 274 North Elm Street.  The first service held there was Sunday February 28, 1965.

The Methodist Church and Evangelical United Brethren Churches merged in 1968, changing the name to Herscher United Methodist Church.

“As United Methodists, we are making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world through our shared faith, mission, and ministry.”
